Ralph Pentland is the President of Ralbet Enterprises Incorporated, a small-scale consulting firm; Acting Chairman of the Canadian Water Issues Council at the University of Toronto; and a Member of the Forum for Leadership on Water.
Over the years, he has served as Canadian Co-chairman of five International Joint Commission Boards and Committees dealing with Canada-U.S. transboundary issues. He also advised the government of Ontario during 2004-2005 negotiations with eight Great Lakes states on Great Lakes diversions and water consumption.
Between 1991 and 2000, Ralph served as an environmental and water policy consultant in several countries including Venezuela, Poland, Indonesia, India and China. More recently, he has collaborated with non-governmental organizations and academic institutions on a variety of environmental and natural resource issues. Between 1978 and 1991 Ralph served as Director of Water Planning and Management in the federal government. In that capacity, he negotiated and administered numerous federal-provincial and Canada-U.S. agreements and arrangements. He was the primary author of the 1987 Federal Water Policy.
