Watch: The Nisga’a Nation Youth Treaty Simulation

The Nisga’a Nation Online Youth Treaty Simulation took place over two days earlier this year, in partnership with the Nisga’a Lisims Government (NLG).

11 emerging leaders negotiated and implemented wildlife sections of a fictitious treaty in the first-ever online simulation, with guidance from treaty experts including  NLG Secretary-Treasurer Corinne McKay, Tłı̨chǫ leader John B. Zoe, and Gwich’in Deputy Grand Chief Jordan Petersen.

Watch highlights from the simulation here:

“I loved learning how treaty negotiations work. It is very interesting. And definitely challenging. We went through it all: frustrations, learning together, working together, delegating the work studies, and coming together to develop the proposals. And it was super fun, especially in the negotiations. It is definitely funny when things get heated and seeing the passion in everyone.” Treaty Simulation participant.
